Updated: April 5, 2017

This page is for news and updates for the Fisher-Price Collectors Club.

Collectors, check this page for updates about our toy sale, summer convention, Gabby Goose Newsletter, and any other toy news going on!

April 5, 2017: NEW! Mark your calendars! The club's next Annual Toy Show and Sale will be Saturday July 29, 2017 at the Blazing Star Masonic Lodge, located at 645 Main Street in East Aurora NY. Hours are 9:00 to 3:00, rain or shine! This is the same location that the club used last year. For club members, the next convention is July 28 - 29, 2017. We are having the annual dinner on Friday July 28th at Bravo Cafe and Catering in Elma NY. Full details are listed in the April newsletter of the Gabby Goose, and on this website if I ever find a moment to type it up!

February 28, 2017: NEW! My apologies for any new members or people contacting the club over the last few weeks. We are somewhat in the "off-season" right now (with people who handle things are either traveling or just very busy), so some club business has not been slow to get done. Hopefully we will catch up soon!

December 23, 2016: NEW! The December 2016 newsletter was mailed out to club members right before Christmas. This is a very special issue - it is dedicated to long-time club member Sandy Rose, who passed away in November 2016. We will miss her terribly. The newsletter shares many memories and photos of Sandy and her family with the club through the years. See the Gabby Goose Newsletter page to see more information about the December 2016 newsletter, plus answers to the Adventure People Crossword Puzzle.

December 15, 2016: NEW! We received questions concerning a "new toy" by Fisher-Price called the "Happy Hour Playset". This supposed new toy has been circulating on people's social media feeds. This "toy" is designed for preschoolers, and features a pretend bar with pretend beer bottles and pretend bar stools. People have been wondering if this is real, and some are up-in-arms about the demented morals of society to produce such a toy. Happy to say, "Happy Hour" is a joke!!! A total internet joke made by a very good meme designer. Fisher-Price even had to issue a disclaimer assuring people that this is not a real toy by their company. It is not real. AT ALL!! Our club knows it can't be real since no one owns one. (If it were real, true collectors would already have 2 - one to play with, and one mint-in-the-box!!). The scale of the box to how large the toy would be also doesn't look right (another hint it is fake). A link to an article about the "toy" can be found here.

November 9, 2016: NEW! The club had a nice time at Convention 2016 last July! The next newsletter will hopefully be completed during the next few weeks. The club is on break right now, but the Facebook groups are very active in chatting! Check out the Facebook Groups Page to join the fun!

July 22, 2016: Collectors, check your mailboxes! The July 2016 issue of the Gabby Goose was mailed out to all club members and should be arriving soon! The Convention 2016 Page now has been updated with maps to Bravo Cafe and Catering (where the Friday dinner will be held) and also to the Saturday July 30th Toy Sale at the Masonic Lodge in East Aurora. If you want to print a flyer to the Toy Sale, click here!

July 20, 2016: Ok everyone, we are in the final stretch until Convention 2016! The Convention 2016 Page is fully updated. Invitations were mailed out to all club members in late June, but if for some reason you did not receive one, email us at fpclub@att.net pronto!! Unfortunately the next Gabby Goose newsletter got delayed at the print shop; but it should be mailed out very soon and arrive about a week before the convention! The countdown is on!

June 14, 2016: OK Club Members, things are rolling along now! The Convention 2016 Page is updated. Also if you are a club member looking to sell at the sale, or even a former Toyfest seller, or someone local to East Aurora with lots of vintage toys to sell, check out our Potential Vendors Page for more information!

May 22, 2016: The sale and convention is barely 2 months away so start your planning! The dinner is set for July 29th and the sale for July 30th in the East Aurora NY area. Reservations are required for the dinner so we can get an accurate headcount! Club members will be mailed invitations to the dinner in the coming weeks; if you can come, follow the instructions in the envelope and mail back your response! The next newsletter should be sent in early July. Things are rolling along! See The Toy Sale Page for more info about the sale!

March 11, 2016: Club members, Convention 2016 is set in stone! The dates are definitely Friday July 29th and Saturday July 30th! The annual dinner will be held on Friday July 29th at a new place, the Bravo restaurant in Elma NY. Elma NY is one town west of East Aurora. The Toy Show and Sale will be held on Saturday July 30th, at the Blazing Star Masonic Lodge on Main Street in East Aurora NY. This is a new location for us and puts our sale right on Main Street during the Chamber Of Commerce's Street Festival, so we are quite excited to see how this new location does! More information will be mailed to club members closer to the summer. Mark your calendars, everyone!

March 6, 2016: Collectors, the latest issue of the Gabby Goose was just mailed out! Should be arriving soon!

January 25, 2016: We posted a new webpage for the club's 2016 Convention. But for the convention and toy sale to happen, new venues need to be found. If it all comes together, the dates would be July 29 and 30, 2016. But as of now, nothing is set. More details to come as plans are firmed up.

January 24, 2016: The next newsletter has been delayed indefinitely until certain issues are resolved.

December 2015: The club is currently on hiatus (nothing going on right now). There will be changes coming in the new year; no events are currently planned at this time.

July 28, 2015: Convention 2015 was great! The sale did well, and the sit-down dinner was the most fun in years! We played Musical Chairs, in Little People style! (Yes, it was quite a sight!). It was great to see everyone, and we are hoping to get together again in July 2016. There may be changes to the convention next year, and we will keep people posted as plans are made. The next newsletter (hopefully planned for the Fall of 2015) will be filled with photos and articles all about Convention 2015!

We have a new option this year - you can pay using Paypal for dues renewal, dinner reservations, and even raffle tickets! The link to the Paypal site is here at Paypal for Club Members Page. The dinner is $22 a person, and club members can bring any guests they like. The raffle prize this year is the 1990 Toyfest toy Prancing Horses, plus more to be named (have multiple winners this year). Raffle tickets are $1 each on Paypal. Dues for next year are $25 a person. If you are not coming to the Convention and renewing for next year, dues for next year can be paid by September 1st. If you are coming to the Convention, mail us back your invitation filled out with payment, or use the Paypal link listed on your invitation! Collectors, it's less than 4 weeks away! See the updated Convention 2015 for more information!

June 20, 2015: Club members, the invitations to the upcoming Convention are soon to be mailed out! We apologize for the delay, since we were transferring duties among people and trying to modernize, which took some time to work out. All club members and their guests are invited to the club's annual dinner at the American Legion Hall in East Aurora NY. The date is Friday July 24, probably around 6:00 pm. The price is $22 a person. Food will be served buffet-style, and the menu is still being chosen (as of this writing). The sale will be the next day on Saturday July 25th. If you can come, respond to the instructions in the invitations! Time to start getting ready!

May 25, 2015: The planning for the next Toy Sale and Convention is going full-blast! For everyone out there, the club's annual Toy Show and Sale is planned for Saturday July 25, 2015 in East Aurora NY, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church on Pine Street. See the Toy Sale Page for details! And for club members, Convention 2015 will include dinner at the American Legion on Friday July 24th. Invitations will be mailed out about a month before the Convention. If you can come, return your invitation so we can get an accurate head count! Hope to see you there!

Also included are articles about our Facebook pages and groups, author Brad Cassity, Pixar's Toy Story and their use of Fisher-Price toys, Basic Fun's brand new Little Snoopy replica toy, and a FPLP word game called "Name That Lithograph"! The newsletter will be arriving in a yellow envelope with a chatter phone on the label. Check it out, collectors!

March 2, 2015: March is here! Many club members live in northern and Mid-Atlantic states that experienced a HORRIBLE winter. This photo is for you guys!! OK winter, time to move along and let spring get here soon. (Click photo to see a larger size).

February 3, 2015: Did some upgrading and updating of this website. The Convention 2015 page is up and running, which will have details about the upcoming convention this summer. The Toy Sale Page is also updated for 2015, now listing the next sale date of July 25, 2015. Also some new pages have been added to this site: a page about our newsletter The Gabby Goose (the actual newsletter is not available online, it is mailed out to club members); plus a Facebook Groups and Pages which has links to places to chat with other Fisher-Price fans, or to get club information. Check it out!

February 2, 2015: Some very sad news to report. The Fisher-Price Collectors Club was informed by his family that author Brad Cassity has passed away, in mid January 2015. Brad wrote the very popular "yellow" Fisher-Price book, Fisher-Price Toys: A Pictorial Price Guide to the More Popular Toys . Many club members knew him well, and helped contribute photos to his wonderful book. The club sends their condolences to his family in this difficult time.

February 1, 2015: Happy to report, the Fisher-Price Collectors Club has set the dates of our next convention: Friday July 24th and Saturday July 25, 2015. The Toy Show and Sale is tentatively set for Saturday July 25th, as part of the East Aurora Chamber of Commerce's Street and Sidewalk Sale (which is listed for July 25th on their website calendar now). Details are still being planned, so watch this website for more announcements, and the next Gabby Goose newsletter will have all the information about Convention 2015!

January 17, 2015: Welcome to the new year! The Fisher-Price Collectors Club is starting to plan ahead into 2015. As of now, the next toy sale is still in the planning stage and nothing has been set yet. The Toy Sale Page was just updated, and watch that page for details as they come. The next Gabby Goose newsletter will be in the spring. If anyone wants to chat, our Facebook groups are still quite active even in the dead of winter! (Check the last Gabby Goose newsletter for the Facebook group links).

November 21, 2014: Check this out! A 2014 holiday commercial by Honda features the Fisher-Price Little People!! These were the Little People made from 1990-1996, and affectionately called "The Chunky Little People" by collectors. See the Happy Honda Days commercial here!

July 21, 2014: If any club member needs a map of the events in East Aurora NY for Convention 2014, Click here!

June 22, 2014: Things are coming along for Convention 2014! Club Members, check your mailboxes - Jacquie mailed out the invitations to the club's annual dinner! This year, the dinner is at the American Legion off of Center Street in East Aurora NY. Cost is $20 a person, and food is served buffet style. The dinner is on Friday July 25th and starts at 6:00 pm. Dress is pretty much anything you like - some people dress up, while others love coming in their favorite toy-themed tshirts! Jacquie mailed out the invitations around June 20th, so if you don't receive yours shortly, email us here at fpclub@att.net and we will get you one! Also mailed out were the dues for next year ($25) plus raffle tickets for our fundraiser this year - the 1993 Toyfest toy named Jingle Elephant. If you can come to the dinner, mail back your invitation and check by July 9th, since the American Legion needs a headcount. The dinner is always a fun time - if you can make it, COME!!

May 27, 2014: The Toy Show and Sale's plans are coming along, and we have a few more spots for potential vendors. If you are a club member interested in selling your collectible toys, email us at fpclub@att.net! Or if you are a former ToyFest seller and want to sell again, or even just someone who lives in the East Aurora area who has a decent-sized Fisher-Price and/or vintage toy collection to sell, check out our page on being a potential vendor.

July 25, 2013: Convention 2013 is here! For club members who are coming this year - see you all in East Aurora NY!

July 19, 2013: Club members, if you can come to the dinner, mail your invitations and check back to Jacquie pronto! We have to get an exact (or pretty darn close) headcount for the restaurant. We already met our minimum amount of people, so we are good to go!

July 5, 2013: Club members, check those mailboxes! Jacquie mailed out the invitations to the 2013 convention over the last couple weeks. We are having a Social hour and dinner on Friday July 26, then the sale on Saturday July 27. Reservations required for the dinner, and it is for club members and their guests only. The dinner is $22 this year. If you can come, send back the invitations soon so we can get a headcount for the dinner! Jacquie would love the invitations back by July 17th. Also mailed out were the dues for next year, and raffle tickets. Dues are due back by Sept 1st. This year's raffle prize is a Pebbles Camel, a Toyfest reproduction toy. This is the club's 20th anniversary, so a special year for us! Hope all you club members can make it!

June 19, 2013: Yes, FINALLY The Fisher-Price Collectors Club has entered the world of Facebook! We have a new page that contains general information about the club. And hopefully soon will have updates about our Toy Sale and convention, plus some fun general Fisher-Price toy trivia and tidbits. Anyone can "like" the page - club members or anyone else out there! The hours are 9:00 until 2:30ish. Some vendors may pack up earlier than 2:30, so it's better to get there on the earlier side! There will be vintage Fisher-Price toys for sale - Little People, wooden pull toys, Toyfest reproductions, newer Little People, other lines of older collectible toys. See photos on the Convention 2012 page to get an idea of how big this sale is, and what you may find!

June 3, 2013: Less than 2 months until the convention! The convention will be held over the weekend of July 26-27, 2013. April 7, 2013: If anyone has a young daughter ages 3 - 6 who likes picture books, there is a new one just published that has a small connection to a classic Fisher-Price toy! In the book Emeraldalicious by Victoria Kann, the main character is a young girl who finds her favorite woods has been turned into a garbage dump. With some magic, she reuses many of the items in new ways to promote the idea of recycling. If you look closely in the background when she is surrounded by garbage, there is a classic Fisher-Price chatter phone! The phone appears on 3 different pages. Takes some eagle eyes to see the chatter phone among the garbage, but there it is! Nice to see a chatter phone get a little recognition in the year 2013!

July 6, 2012: I updated the Toy Sale Page - The Toy sale is on Saturday July 28th, in East Aurora NY, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church on Pine Street. Map included on that page. Also, club members - return your convention invitations/dues soon so we can do a head count!

May 23, 2012: Collectors, check your mailboxes (I mean your real mailboxes, not the one with your #2500 Fisher-Price Main Street set) - Gabby Goose newsletter was mailed out! We are looking for some more club members to write articles - check the last page of the Gabby Goose for more details.

April 24, 2012: Convention 2012 is set for Friday July 27 and Saturday July 28, 2012! There is one main difference from prior years - the dinner is going to be on Friday night instead of Saturday. Check the Convention 2012 for details as they come. Start making your plans!

February 25, 2012: Fisher-Price toys were featured in the December 14th, 2011 edition of the magazine Antique Trader recently. It mentions the Top 10 Fisher-Price toys to collect, with 1936's Pushcart Pete having a value in the $9000 range. Wow, wished I owned something on that list! The article is written by Bruce Fox, who wrote the popular Fisher-Price Toys Guide Book. To see the article, click here!. (Hope the links works; it may not work forever!).

January, 2012: Yeah! A new replica toy has been released. This one is the Fisher-Price Changeable Picture Disk Camera #112. The original one was made from around the late 1960's until around 1972. The original camera had discs sold with it, that you would place in the camera to view scenes. I personally never had this camera growing up, and never came across one in all my time in rummage and yard sales, so I am quite curious about it! Not sure what stores are selling the replica, but I see it being sold online in various places. Check it out!

December 5, 2011: Collectors, check your mailboxes! The Fall issue of the Gabby Goose was mailed out. Lots of fun stuff - Ted writes more about the wind-up music boxes; we recount the events of the 2011 summer convention; the "Getting To Know You" article is about our youngest member ever (at 6 years old!); plus more! Sit on down and enjoy!

November 11, 2011: For those who enjoy decorating for Christmas, remember to stop by a Hallmark Store and look for the new Fisher-Price ornaments. This year, there is the red Music Box Teaching Clock, and the Play Family House (the yellow/blue one). The attention to detail is amazing, and the quality is awesome! There is also an ornament based on Snoopy Snifer called "Snoop 'N Sniff", which was released in limited quantites and will be harder to find. So go out there and get your ornaments, because you may wind up buying them at super expensive prices later on Ebay if you don't (just look at what the Barn ornament sells for - yikes!).

September 16, 2011: Everyone recovered from Convention 2011 yet? Got all of your new toys displayed? Hope so! Also Chat is continuing on Tuesday nights at 9:00 pm Eastern Time - drop by and chat, or just leave a message! The password and link to the Chatzy site is listed in the last issue of the Gabby Goose.

July 18, 2011: Collectors, check your mailboxes! The Summer issue of the Gabby Goose was mailed out - should be arriving around now. All the Convention 2011 information is in there; plus Ted F. has an article; also some new members share their stories; plus much more! Hope everyone is getting ready for next week's sale and dinner!

The events this year are: A Social Hour at the Immanuel Lutheran Church (43 Pine Street) at 3:00 on Friday July 29th; The Toy Sale at the church on Saturday July 30th from 9:00 to 2:30ish; the dinner (be there by 6:30!) at the Village Kitchen Cafe on Saturday night. Ted F. is speaking this year (which will make you want to beef up your wind-up toy collection!). Join us for the fun! Click here to see the Convention 2011 webpage.

June 10, 2011: I added a new PDF membership application on the Join The Club page. Yeah trying to modernize a bit!

July 16, 2010: For any club members who need a map to see where the dinner and sale are, Click here!

July 2, 2010: Hey Club Members! Our plans for our 2010 Get-Together are set for July 24, 2010! There will be a Toy Sale, as well as the annual dinner. Also mailed out were membership info and dues for next year - send those back to Jacquie!

May 11, 2010: We are starting to make plans for the summer get-together for the club - a new webpage for information can be found here. We are working on having a Toy Show and Sale, but we'll probably do a meal (luncheon or dinner) for sure. Watch this website for more info as it comes!

Early May, 2010: The Gabby Goose was mailed out - Collectors check your mailboxes!

February 2010: While snowed in during a blizzard, I was bored so I tried to add a slideshow of some favorite toys - hope my web skills are good enough to make this work! (slideshow at the top of the home page).

Early December 2009: Collectors, check your mailboxes! The Winter issue of the Gabby Goose was mailed out in early December. Many thanks as always to Diane and Jacquie for all their work in putting it together!

August 29, 2009: Our luncheon was on Saturday August 29th, and we had a great time! Quite a few of us were able to attend, and it was great seeing everyone this year. Hope to get up a webpage about what we did.

August 2009: The Summer issue of the Gabby Goose was mailed out! For anyone going to the August 29th Luncheon that needs East Aurora info and directions, Click here for an updated map for 2009.

July 2009: CLUB MEMBERS - PLEASE READ! Collectors, check your mailboxes! Club renewal forms were mailed out at the end of July. Also included is information about attending our annual get-together. This year it's pretty simply - a luncheon on Saturday August 29th at 1:00 pm at the Village Kitchen Cafe in East Aurora NY. We will order off the menu. We will also be doing the annual raffle, plus giving out the Caring and Sharing Award. Club Members, send back your forms to Jacquie by August 15th, so we know who's coming and how many people to include in the reservations! Click here for more info.

June 2009: Sad news to report - The Fisher-Price Collectors Club will not be having an Antique Toy Show and Sale this year. Like the two frowning Little People shown here, we aren't happy about it, but alas there were many reasons for this decision.

May 2009: More sad news to report - the Toytown Museum on Girard Steet in East Aurora has closed, and it appears this is permanent. They may be looking for another location, but it remains to be seen what happens next. A huge loss to toy collectors everywhere.

May 2009: The Spring Gabby Goose newsletter was mailed - collectors, check your mailboxes!

March 2009: Good news!! In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Little People, Fisher-Price has produced 4 new commemorative toys, in a retro style in remembrance of the classic Little People. They are called the "Little People Play 'n Go", and the 4 new toys are a house, fire station, farm, and school house. The new toys have a base made of light-weight plastic and tin, with plastic Little People and some accessories. Sadly the Little People figures are large and chunky, but alas, that's how things are made in current times for safety reasons. Nice to see the vintage Little People being remembered today!

December 2008: The Winter Gabby Goose Newsletter was mailed out - check it out!

August 2008: Our annual convention was held over the weekend of August 22-24, 2008, in East Aurora NY. Click here to see photos! It was a fun time for all!
